I don’t remember having a thesis for my bachelor’s degree, but I can assure you that if I had one it wasn’t even remotely as cool as this table tennis trainer created by Thomas Mayer for his thesis. It is a projected image onto the table top that tracks the ball and your paddle to give you feedback on your playing but also to train you to be the ultimate ping ponger. Yes, it has to be a little dark in the room to see it well, but who cares? Get a glow in the dark ball and stop whining. Low light is a small price to pay for super future table tennis that helps you get better and teaches you the tricks of the trade. This was just a prototype for now but who knows, maybe someone will work on this to make it something we can all have.
