Sailee Adhao recognized flaws in something first designed almost 200 years ago and has now come up with this innovative fire extinguisher. It is designed to meet the constraints of low cost, accessibility and sustainability specifically for India but amazing for us all. It’s described as being instinctive to use even in situations of extreme emergency which is honestly how everything should be made. Also exactly how everything should be made: it’s reusable so you can swap in new chemical chambers and refill with water. When needed, you hit the yellow release button with force, aim at the fire and the chemical reaction begins to extinguish until the water in the device is gone. The final prototype is 3D printed and tested to ensure easy and optional use. It’s not in production phase yet but there’s definitely market space available if they can get the price right around $20.
