Mountain Hub isn’t the only mapping app for outdoor use available – far from it. It’s recent update though bumped it up above many of its competitors by including tons of data from outdoor professionals, adventure tracking, trip reporting, unlimited offline maps, and a zero dollars price tag. That last part is thanks to a partnership with Black Diamond (sniffing around for an acquisition?) which adds some significant credibility to the app as well. What started as a maps app is looking to me like it is in the early stages of being to the outdoor world what Wunderground is to the meteorology world. If you aren’t using Wunderground, go check it out. The app is available for both Android and iOS right now.
