Mexican designer Edgar Herrera has proposed a drone that ditches the props e know for a bladeless design that takes ducted airflow from the edges and routes through rotating fans to create lift and thrust. It’s just a prototype design, but if you could put some kind of motor on there strong enough to pull and push the right amount of air, it would solve a lot of problems like breaking props, getting them stuck in hair, and having external moving parts in general. The main central area creates the lift, while the three surrounding fans control direction. Pretty awesome. No word on potential availability or price, but it’s a great idea.
