From every honest account of war that I’ve read and seen, it can’t be summed up with a single word. Or, even generally 20,000 words. It’s horrible, terrifying, shocking, scarring, beautiful, powerful and so much more. Often, I think the best movies about war show many of its sides. That’s what it looks like we’re in for with Sand Castle. it is set in Iraq in 2003 following a group of American soldiers in the early days of the second Gulf War. This movie looks like a deeply intense roller coaster that mimics the ups, downs and sideways of the experience these soldiers felt. It’s straight to Netflix on April 21 and definitely worth checking out.
