Makita has announced a somewhat left-field product in the form of a power-assist dolly powered by two 18V lithium-ion batteries and a brushless motor. You can get up to 60 minutes of work out of each battery and it can handle loads up to 275 lbs. on two speed settings and a max speed of 2.5 mph on a 12-degree incline. The side rails drop down to easily switch to flatbed, and you can lift and roll like a wheelbarrow. It’s a clever concept that might work well, but the $990 price tag might put some off of it.
