Garmin announced a new watch that has us pretty excited. The Forerunner 645 integrates music and Garmin Pay so you get all the features like you’re carrying your phone without actually having to. Starting with the music aspect, which is a drool-worthy feature to me, the watch will store up to 500 songs that will play via Bluetooth headphones or you can sync up with various streaming services to get offline music. Then there’s Garmin Pay so you can make last minute purchases along your routes as needed and not have to bring along those annoying cards when you’re trying to be as minimal as possible. The integrated heard monitor keeps track of your effort so you can ditch your chest strap – or sync it up if you love it. Of course you get the usual features like tracking speed, distance and calories burned but you also get advanced data like ground contact time and stride length which is hugely appealing to me as a runner. You can customize your experience with various faces and apps so you can love what you’re looking at AND what it’s doing for you. The battery lasts up to 7 days in smartwatch mode and about 5 hours with GPS and music on. Pre-order now for $450.
