Drift Boards are an alternative to snowshoes and climbing skins for skiers. They have permanently attached climbing skins, so you can cruise uphill but are ultra lightweight and narrow, so they don’t weight you down when you’re climbing or descending. If you’re a snowboarder, you can get uphill gliding quickly without having to ride a special split board or some other compromise deck. They’re better than snowshoeing since you don’t have to plod along one step at a time. You can break trail, hold an edge, shuffle uphill, and generally get around like you were born in the snow. You can get a pair for $350 on their kickstarter. Estimated delivery is Dec. so you’ll hopefully get to try them out this coming season.
