These tents from Alien Buffalo looks so cool and modern you might be tempted to think they are music festival throwaways, but you’d be dead wrong. These tents are designed to respond to the camping style of this generation and they hit the nail on the head.
They’re tough, roomy, versatile, and designed to keep you comfortable in all kinds of weather. based on the classic teepee style that has been used by people all over the world throughout history, they have carbon composite poles and anodized aluminum connectors that can hold up to 250 lbs. hanging from the top. You have the option of grey that lets in some light or white that blocks out all exterior light to keep things cool. Not cool enough? You can add an AC unit to a space in the wall. The big door has a low bottom so you don’t trip going in and out. There are 4 large windows as well to get ventilation no matter which direction the breeze is coming from. You can even add a “jacket” that keeps out almost all heat gain.
The regular tent stands 9 ft. 3 in. tall at the center and encompasses 204 square feet. There is a Mini option that is still 6 ft. 10 in. tall and 124 square feet, so still pretty big. The regular is 44 lbs, so obviously not a backpacking tent, but if you’re bringing the car to get there, this is easy enough to move around. Alien Buffalo and their fantastic shelters are a welcome addition to a sometimes slow to innovate tent industry. The full-size tent starts at $1,500 plus optional accessories.
