You may have seen the first stove from Biolite, which let you charge a phone from a small camp stove. Well, that same technology was used to create the much larger basecamp sized stove. Funded last year on kickstarter to the tune of a little over $1M, this $300 stove is as useful as it is beautiful. With just fallen branches or small pieces of firewood this shiny thing can grill up to 8 burgers on its 13″ cooktop while it provides 30 mins of charging to your USB device. That big size and the side entry wood feed lets you get the group around it for s’mores. A one touch lever concentrates flames to go from grilling to precision boiling easily. It even comes with a small LED light so you can see what you’re doing after dark, without annoying everyone with your headlamp shining in their face. At almost 18 lbs and no small package it isn’t going in a backpack, but will dominate the car camping scene.
