This is our first time in a pair of Astral shoes but definitely won’t be the last. The Hemp Donner is an awesome shoe. It is a performance casual that actually performs but isn’t out of place off the trail. The hemp upper is cut to have clean lines and an uncluttered look but provides ample support, gives the ball of your foot and toes plenty of room to spread out, and provides an incredibly stable base. That last part is thanks to perimeter lugs with greater surface area. The aggressive tread is also designed to have beveled edges that keeps mud, snow and dog crap from getting stuck in there. A fairly rigid heel cup grabs a hold of your heel and holds on without digging into your skin. The hemp material lets you feel better about indulging in some new kicks because its environmental impact is much lower than other natural fibers and far better than synthetics. I took these out hiking, mountain biking on platform pedals and around town running errands. They felt just right wherever I was and whatever I was doing.
